ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: JOHN EISEMANN 

John Eisemann started as the Director of Choral Activities at Grant High School in the Fall of 2012 and is beginning his 8th year at Grant. John is an alum of Grant High School and graduated in 2006. He sang with the choir program for three years, two of which he was a member of the Royal Blues. John holds a BA in Music/Education from Knox College, Galesburg Illinois, and an MA in Educational Leadership/Curriculum Design from Concordia University.

John has also worked extensively on his conducting technique with Dr. Rodney Eichenberger. He has lead his chamber choir at Grant, the Royal Blues, on multiple local and international tours, and has facilitated clinics for his students with professional vocal ensembles from all over the world, including Cappella Romana, Nordic Voices, The Marian Consort, Chanticleer, Calmus Ensemble, Voces8, and the King’s Singers.

Aside from his work at Grant, John is an active member in the NW choral community. He is the founder and artistic director of In Medio, a semi-professional chamber choir, as well as the founder/artistic director of Evenstar Ensemble, a professional vocal group specializing in polyphonic music from the Renaissance ear. He has sung with Cappella Romana and Cantores in Ecclesia, as well as with the Byrd International Singers for the past four summers, where he has performed with members of the Byrd Ensemble and the Tallis Scholars.
